Swans youngster Nick Smith agrees to two more years, Irishman Christopher McKaigue...
“I am very happy to sign on for another two years and I am looking forward to next season,” Smith told sydneyswans.com.au.
Smith was this season elevated onto the senior list after two years on the rookie list. The 21-year old made his AFL debut in 2008 whilst securing a spot on the senior list for a player on the long term injury.
He has since played 13 games, more importantly 11 of them have been this season without missing a game from the Round 12 fixture against Collingwood.
“We have been really pleased with the way Nick has progressed this year, particularly in the back half of this year he has been a really valuable senior player, highlighted by his job on Alan Didak in our Round 21 game against Collingwood,” coach Paul Roos said.
“We are excited he has signed on for another two years.”
The Swans are also pleased to confirm that Irishman Christopher McKaigue has accepted a two-year international rookie deal with the Club.
The 20-year old from Derry, has represented his county in both Gaelic Football and Hurling.
“He will come to the Club and develop as an attacking defender,” Manger – Player Development Stuart Maxfield explained, “With his athletic abilities and strong leadership qualities; we are looking forward to having him on our list in 2010.”
