Sydney Swans premiership player Craig Bolton has become just the third AFL player to be inducted into the ACT Sports Hall of Fame.
Bolton was one of nine inductees on Monday after being honoured for his lifetime of achievements as an AFL player.
The former captain played 199 AFL games (29 for Brisbane and 170 for the Swans) and was a two time All Australian in 2006 and 2009.
A key member of the 2005 premiership side, Bolton has been an extremely influential figure in the development of the Swans over the last couple of decades.
Bolton said he was honoured to be inducted into what is a strong crop of athletes hailing from Canberra.
"The great thing about Canberra, the unique thing, is that it's for all sports," he said.
"We've seen today so many great people from across the sports being inducted, whether it's rugby union, hockey, AFL.
"I think Canberra's got a unique ability to produce a lot of different athletes and AFL is definitely no exception.
"It's a fantastic place to grow up playing sport. All in all, I look back with a lot of pride and feeling very privileged with the opportunities I've been given.
"When you're growing up you play for the love of the game and I certainly had a good time playing footy as a youngster in Canberra. Today is very humbling to be recognised in this context."
Bolton becomes just the third AFL player to be inducted into the ACT Sports Hall of Fame behind Alex Jesaulenko and James Hird.
Premiership teammate Michael O’Loughlin was on hand as Bolton was honoured at Monday’s ceremony.
"It's good to see people from some old clubs I was involved with, both Eastlake and Marist College with some old teachers being there," Bolton said.
"And also an old teammate in Michael O'Loughlin, part of my Swans playing days, who was so instrumental in my career."
The Sydney Swans Football Club congratulates Craig Bolton on his induction into the ACT Sports Hall of Fame.
