The Sydney Swans are delighted to welcome Giselle Davies to the club, securing her for the 2024 season in a trade with Gold Coast Suns.
The tall defender joined the AFLW as a Suns Academy product, drafted at pick 30 in the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft.
A Southport Sharks junior, Davies moved to Bond University where she would play in the 2021 QAFLW season, going on to play in the Grand Final team.
At just 19-years of age, Davies made her debut for the Gold Coast Suns in Season 7 of the AFLW.
Standing at 180cm, Davies will look to further her development as a tall defender when she joins the Swans next year.
Sydney Swans Executive General Manager – AFLW, Kate Mahony is looking forward to seeing Davies in the red and white.
“We are delighted to welcome Giselle to the club,” said Mahony.
“Davies arrives with some AFLW experience and given the right opportunity to develop her game will excel. She is a humble and down to earth individual who we are confident will fit the Bloods culture.”
Senior AFLW coach Scott Gowans said he’s looking forward to seeing Davies improve her defensive game.
“Giselle is a key defender who is very strong in the air and can win her fair share of contests at ground level,” said Gowans.
“We believe she will be a great addition to our backs as we look to improve our ability to halt opposition momentum.”
Sydney secured the services of Giselle Davies from the Gold Coast Suns, in exchange for pick 55 in the upcoming NAB AFLW Draft.
