Fremantle return home to Optus Stadium in Perth to take on the Sydney Swans in Round 9 of the AFL season, after breezing past Richmond at the MCG by 54 points.

The Dockers midfield ran amok on the wide expanses of the MCG with Luke Ryan (39 disposals), Caleb Serong (38), Andrew Brayshaw (31) and Hayden Young (30) dominating the game from start to finish.

Up forward, Josh Treacy booted four goals for Fremantle, while he was well supported by Jye Amiss who kicked two.

Fremantle have now moved into the top 8 on the ladder and seemed to have found their groove after an inconsistent start to the season.

They take on a Swans side who moved into top spot on the ladder after a win in the local Derby over the Giants, but Fremantle’s record over Sydney should give them some confidence.

The two sides went 1-1 last season, with the travelling teams prevailing on both occasions. The last time they met was in Perth in Round 19 last season with the Swans getting the better of the home side by 29 points.

The Dockers are expected to start Brownlow Medallist Nat Fyfe on the ground this week after using him as the sub against Richmond, while Sam Switkowski may return after missing several weeks with a concussion that he suffered in Round 5.

Speaking during the week, running defender Jordan Clark said they’re excited about taking on the top of the table Swans.

“They’re a very good team, they’re in great form and they are a very good side for a reason, and we are looking forward to the challenge this week,” Clark said.

“It’s important to win as many games as you can throughout the year, I don’t think anyone in particular is more important than anyone… but obviously it would be good to knock off the team at the top of the ladder.”

First bounce for this top 8 clash at Optus Stadium at 6.30 local time.
