Sydney Swans duo Logan McDonald and Errol Gulden have been named in the 2024 AFL Players’ Association’s 22Under22 squad, presented by Snaffle.
The two young red and white stars are the two lone Swans to be named in the 40-player squad. McDonald is looking for his first selection in the final team while Gulden was selected in the final 22Under22 team in 2023.
McDonald, who re-signed earlier this season, has played in 20 games, kicking 30 goals, including a season high four goals against North Melbourne in Round 18.
Gulden, who also re-signed earlier this season, has continued on his strong form that saw him claim the club’s Bob Skilton Medal in 2023 and named an All Australian. Gulden is averaging 28.4 disposals, 20.9 kicks, 6.1 marks each game in 2024 and has kicked 12 goals this season.
The 22Under22 is a fan-voted concept that recognises the best 22 players aged under 22 and under for the entirety of the season. The final team will be decided by fans, with voting open for a week on the 22Under22 site from 2pm August 8 and closing on 11:59pm August 14 (midnight).
We encourage all Swans members and fans to cast their vote today.
The final team will be announced on August 21 via the AFL Players’ Association’s social media channels. If your team matches the final fan-voted #22Under22, you could WIN an AFL #22Under22 guernsey signed by the Captain and Vice-Captain, PLUS your choice of prizes thanks to Snaffle.
To eligible for the squad of 40, they are required to play 50 per cent of the home and away season, equating to 12 matches. While there is a games minimum, players are rewarded for their consistency across the season.
The concept was introduced in 2013 to reward the young players who make an impact on their club and the competition so early in their careers.
