The Sydney Swans are pleased to announce Harmit Singh has been appointed as the Talent and Coaching Director of the QBE Sydney Swans Academy.
Singh has spent the past two years at the Collingwood Football Club in several roles including Head of Academies and Peter Daicos Academy, and Assistant Coach of the Collingwood VFL team.
Prior to this, Singh was at the Essendon Football Club as Academies Manager, James Hird Academy Coach and AFLW Recruiting Manager.
Singh has spent more than 15 years in the sports industry having also worked extensively with multicultural and Indigenous communities.
Meanwhile, former Sydney Swans Premiership captain Jarrad McVeigh will take over as Head Coach of the Sydney Swans VFL team.
McVeigh has spent the past five years as Assistant Coach of the AFL team and prior to that played 325 games in the red and white over the course of a 16-year career at the top level.
McVeigh replaces Damian Truslove who returns to Victoria for family reasons.
Finally, Adam Kennedy has joined the Sydney Swans as an AFL Development Coach.
Kennedy will spend most of his time mentoring the club’s 1st–3rd-year players.
The 32-year-old, who recently retired, played 153 games for GWS across a 13-year career.
Sydney Swans Executive GM Football – AFL, Leon Cameron, said all three appointments will add significantly to the club.
“Harmit will bring a wealth of academy experience to our program, and having worked in the game for several decades, he’s the perfect fit to head up our QBE Sydney Swans Academy,” Cameron said.
“Jarrad has been working for several years under John Longmire in the AFL program and we feel this is a fantastic time for him to take over the VFL team.
“At the Giants, I had the privilege of working with Adam Kennedy for many years and he is the ideal person to mentor and guide our young crop of talent.
“I congratulate all three on their appointments and look forward to them making a valuable contribution to the club.”
