Despite a heartbreaking end to the 2024 AFL season Brodie Grundy says he’s reflecting on the enormous success the club achieved this year.

His end-of-season interview with Sydney Swans Media this season came just days before his anniversary in the red and white, after he was recruited in the 2023 Continental Tyres Trade Period.

“I've loved my first season here at the Swans… When I reflect, I can just see so much success along the journey,” he shared.

“The group has spoken so much about how they've grown this year, and I've really enjoyed playing a small part in that.”

The two-time All Australian arrived in the harbour city having played 194 games with Collingwood and Melbourne. His valuable experience in four finals campaigns - including the 2018 Grand Final – proved to be important in the success of the side, bringing leadership and maturity to the young group.

Grundy celebrated his 200th career match in Round 6 against the Gold Coast Suns where he kicked his first ever goal in the red and white guernsey.

“There's been so many great moments and stories throughout this year, but probably for me, it was my 200th game here at the SCG against Gold Coast,” Grundy explained.

“Kicking that goal and getting so much support from my teammates and the crowd.”

The 30-year-old capped off the season with an average of 18 disposals, 32 hit outs and five clearances. His top season performance arrived in Round 14 against the Adelaide Crows with 49 hit outs, 31 disposals and nine clearances.

Grundy admits that he hasn’t set any goals for the upcoming preseason as he continues to look back on the past year.

“I'll spend time to sort of reflect and process and decompress. And then consolidate the learnings from this year. I haven't really set my intentions as of yet. It's still pretty fresh.”

The squad will return for preseason preparations from late November-early December.

“There’s no doubt that I'll be fit and firing and ready to attack 2025. My body's feeling good."

I'm really motivated. And being in this environment, it's hard not to be.
