Young Swans James Rowbottom will represent the Sydney Swans in Saturday's AFL Grand Final Sprint.

The 19-year-old will showcase his sprinting abilities against some of the competition's fastest players during the half time 100m dash.

Rowbottom will need to get through his heat first which will take place at 12.15pm before the match and will advance him to the main event to take place at half time.

The event will take place in front of more than 95,000 fans who are expected at the MCG for Saturday's blockbuster between Richmond and Greater Western Sydney.

All 18 teams will be represented and the field will be wide open given none of the competition’s previous winners will feature.

Rowbottom will respent the club for the first time, joining the likes of Ryley Stoddart, James Rose, Dean Towers, Dan Robinson, Gary Rohan, Harry Cunningham and Mike Pyke to race in the red and white previously.

He is looking to become the first Sydney Swans player to win the event since premiership midfielder Jared Crouch back in 2002.
