The footy world has thrown its support behind young defender Alex Johnson as he undertakes his rehabilitation program following a fifth knee reconstruction.

With his teammates watching on for support Johnson ran laps of the SCG for the first time in 906 days on Wednesday morning.

It was a special moment as the premiership star aims to be the first player to return from a fifth knee reconstruction.

Past players, current players from other Clubs and his teammates all showed their support for Johnson throughout the day.
