Sydney Swans vice-captain Dane Rampe addressed the media ahead of training at the SCG on Thursday morning.
The Swans will take on the Giants in an elimination final at the SCG on Saturday afternoon.
Here are some key quotes from the press conference.
Crunch clash
“It’s definitely the biggest game of the year for both clubs being an elimination final. It’s what you play footy for and with the elimination final being a derby is pretty big for the game in NSW as well. So we’re really looking forward to it.”
The availability of Lance Franklin and Luke Parker
“They’ve got to get through training. We’ve got a short session and if they get through training they should be right.”
Sam Reid’s availability
“He’s tracking pretty well. If he gets through training he’ll definitely put his hand up. Obviously you’ve got to weigh up whether you can bring three blokes who have had a couple of weeks off in. But if he gets through training he’ll put his hand up.”
Rampe facing star GWS forward Jeremy Cameron
“Jeremy’s a very good player. His work rate is pretty phenomenal and probably over the last few years I’ve seen it grow as he’s grown as a player. You can never switch off against him because he’s damaging throughout the whole four quarters of the game. Our match-up is probably one of many across the game and I’ll hopefully play my role, which should go a long way to winning the game.”
Intensity of 2016 Swans-Giants qualifying final
“They’re a proud team and they had blokes like Shane Mumford and ‘Stevie J’ really set the scene for them in that game. I have no doubt their leaders are going to stand up again. Callan Ward and Phil Davis will want to lead from the front and bring that physicality. We’re going to be ready for that, it’s nothing we haven’t faced before and we’re looking forward to it. That’s what finals are about.”
