Injured Sydney stars Lance Franklin and Luke Parker have already started their preparation for Saturday week's elimination final against Greater Western Sydney at the SCG.

Franklin and Parker were both late withdrawals from the Swans' loss to Hawthorn on Saturday night, a defeat that cost them a top four spot, and landed them in a knockout clash with their cross-town rivals.

Coach John Longmire said both players could have lined up against the Hawks, but the chances of them getting through the match, and being ready for the clubs first final, were remote.

The Swans' players will focus on recovery for the next couple of days before they ramp up their training intensity later in the week, with Franklin and Parker likely to remain off the track until at least Monday.

"They'll both do their own separate plans," Longmire said on Monday.

"Both Lance and Luke are important players for us, we expect them to do some training next week and we're really looking forward to that," he said.

"Lance has already had a jog on the treadmill and pulled up quite well, and he'll do a bit more on Friday, and 'Parks' is similar to that.

"I think all the clubs appreciate it (the week off), and there's no doubt it gives us an opportunity to get a couple of players back."

While both Sydney and the Giants both head into the finals with a loss, the Swans look to be much better placed, having won three of the past four games, including their round 22 clash with GWS at Spotless Stadium.

On the flipside, the Giants dropped their past two matches, after following up their defeat at the hands of the Swans, with a demoralising loss to Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday.

While the Swans will be strengthened by the inclusion of Franklin and Parker, their opponents will also take a far different looking side into the elimination final, with the likes of Toby Greene, Matt de Boer and Sam Taylor set to return from hamstring issues, and Aidan Corr (groin) and Zac Williams (Achilles) a chance to play.

Veterans Brett Deledio (calf) and Ryan Griffen (hamstring) could both be available.

Longmire tuned in to see the Demons dominate the Giants on Sunday, but said he'll be preparing his players for a far more competitive game in a fortnight's time.

"A new season starts now for all eight teams in the finals," he said.

"From that game (on Sunday) to their next game their personnel might change a bit from what I hear, so that will be different from when we played them.

"As they always do (in footy) things change from week to week, and that tends to happen a bit at this time of the year.

"Teams play each other in quick succession at times and we're one of those teams.

"The Giants will get some players back and we'll get a couple back, and it should be a ripping game."
