Sydney assistant coach Henry Playfair will depart the Swans after 10 years of service to broaden his experience elsewhere.
Playfair, a veteran of 68 AFL games including 16 with the Swans, was appointed as a development coach at the completion of the 2010 season and coached Sydney’s NEAFL team for season 2011. From 2012-2015 he took charge of Sydney’s forward line, including in the 2012 premiership, and for the past two seasons he has coached the team’s defenders.
Playfair says he’s thankful for his time at the Swans.
“Sydney has been my home for the past decade and I’ve made some wonderful friends and learned so much along the journey,” Playfair said.
“I would like to thank the club, particularly John Longmire, for the opportunities I’ve had along the way. This move is about my development as a coach and broadening my experience, so I look forward to the next chapter.”
Sydney Swans senior coach John Longmire has thanked Playfair for his contribution.
“Henry has been a great servant of the Club as a player and a coach and has helped drive high standards across our team,” Longmire said.
“He departs with our best wishes and we look forward to seeing him further develop his coaching credentials.”
