In summation...

It was an up and down season for the star on-baller, who has set the standard so high for himself in recent seasons with his consistency.

The stats would say it was a below average year for Hannebery, but his importance in the Swans' turn around in form cannot be understated.

After a slow start to the season, the hard-running midfielder played an important role in the side's incredble run of 14 of their last 16 matches of the regular season.

His tackling game was as strong as ever during 2017, finishing the season with 119 tackles, ranking him second behind only Luke Parker (134) at the Swans.

Resting in the forward line during various stages worked well for the vice-captain, with Hannebery kicking 12 goals along with 15 goal assists from 23 games.

Hannebery still finished the season in the Club's top five for disposals (569), clearances (71) and tackles (119).

Round 9 v St Kilda at Etihad Stadium
After a slow start to the season, it was a determined Hannebery that led his side from the first bounce in their big win over St Kilda. The hard-at-it midfielder met the final siren with 30 disposals, 12 marks and two goals to his name. He's earn two Brownlow Medal votes for his efforts, too.

What they said...

"My form was down in the first couple of weeks but like all the players we have been working hard at training. The leaders, which includes me, need to narrow the focus a bit and to action things rather than talking about it all the time."
- Dan Hannebery during a press conference in the lead up to Round 14 against Essendon.
