Emerging midfielder Dan Robinson is exploring his options elsewhere but remains unlikely to be traded before Thursday’s deadline, according to footy boss Tom Harley.
Robinson asked the Sydney swans’ hierarchy for permission to seek further opportunities elsewhere during the trade period.
Harley said the Club was hoping Robinson would remain on their list in 2018.
“Dan is contracted,” Harley told SEN radio.
“He is a good player, he is a required player and he knows how highly we value him.
“We respect the fact that he has asked for our permission to look at other opportunities.
“We are not going to let him just walk out the door because we see him as a valuable part of our squad.”
The 23-year-old has managed 16 games since joining the Club as a New South Wales scholarship holder in 2013.
Harley said the only way Robinson would be traded was if the Club was offered a deal that was too good to refuse.
“If there was to be a deal done it would have to be one that would be beneficial to us,” he said.
“We are not shopping him at all and have not put his name out there this is being driven by him which is fine because that is the way of the world these days.
“It would have to be a good deal for us.”
Meanwhile, Harley confirmed Collingwood’s interest in Category B Rookie Sam Murray who is also seeking further opportunities.
“We are aware of that and having discussions with Collingwood about that,” Harley added.
“If we offered him a contract, which we would be prepared to do for him to go onto the primary list, it would have to be a trade.”
“If a deal is to be done it would need to be done with being a win for us at the same time.”
The 2017 Trade Period concludes Thursday, October 19, at 2pm.
