Luke Parker has shown he’s proudly Sydney by putting pen to paper in a five-year contract extension.
The 23-year-old was set to enter the final year of his contract in season 2016, however the new deal will see him remain a Swan until at least the end of 2021.
In 2014, Parker became the youngest person to win the Swans’ club champion award, the Bob Skilton Medal, since Michael O’Loughlin in 1998. In the wake of his outstanding year Parker was elected to the Swans’ leadership group for season 2015.
Swans General Manager of Football Tom Harley says the Club is rapt to have Parker on board for the long term.
“When you look at your list, and you look at the on and off field attributes you want your players to display, Luke certainly ticks those boxes,” Harley said.
“He’s a Club Champion at a young age, the youngest player ever elected to the Swans’ leadership group, a fantastic person to have around the footy club and a terrific player.
“To have Luke, a Victorian kid, commit to the Swans for five-plus years is just a fantastic endorsement of the footy club.”
Parker says he’s thrilled to have the deal locked away ahead of the season.
“I’ve loved my time at Sydney so far and I’m really looking forward to the future with this footy club,” Parker said.
“To have this deal locked away now means I can focus on the season ahead and it really paves the way for me to become a one-club player, so I couldn’t be happier.”
