Sydney Swans key forward Sam Reid will push his case to face Port Adelaide when he joins the main group for training later this week.
Reid was a late withdrawal from last weekend’s clash with West Coast after suffering tightness in his hamstring at training.
The 26-year-old was running strongly during Wednesday’s session at the SCG.
Head Physiotherapist Matt Cameron said Reid will join training with the main group later in the week.
“Sam was a late withdrawal last week as he was a little bit tight in the hamstring late in the week, and with his previous issues, we didn’t feel like we could take a risk going to Perth,” Cameron said.
“He is back running and running pretty quickly.
“We have got a couple of days to go before needing to decide so we will see how things look on Friday whether he is up for full speed and training.”
Someone who is increasingly likely to be playing on Sunday is Dan Hannebery who pulled up well from his run in a NEAFL practice match last Friday night.
“Dan is in full training now, he has been for about three or four weeks with the main group now,” Cameron said.
“He is moving really well, if you ask him then he tells you he is feeling really good so he played with the NEAFL side last week.
“He should be ready to go if he can get through the final session on Friday.”
Aliir Aliir will sit out another week of football but has recovered well from an ankle injury that stalled his pre-season campaign.
“Aliir was required to sit tight for a couple of weeks while that ligament heals,” Cameron said.
“It has taken a couple of weeks for that to happen and he is back running well, and ran on the grass today.”
