Co-captain Kieren Jack will miss the Sydney Swans' clash with North Melbourne after hurting his ankle at training on Thursday.
The 29-year-old midfielder pulled up sore after the Swans' final session at the SCG, prompting the midfielder to seek scans on the problem area, with coach John Longmire later ruling him out of the upcoming trip to Tasmania.
It will mark the first time this season the Sydney Swans will be without their co-captain, who's averaged 22 possessions and five tackles a game in 2016.
"Obviously, happening on a Thursday means he won’t be available for this week," Longmire said in this week's Centrum Team Selection.
"We’re hoping it will be just a one-weeker."
The last-minute shuffle is a change of pace for a side which has remained unchanged for the past two weeks.
"It just goes to show things can change pretty quickly," Longmire added.
Jack is one of two changes ahead of the Round 22 encounter with the Kangaroos.
Small forward Ben McGlynn has replaced Jack in the selected side, while Toby Nankervis (omitted) makes way for fellow ruckman Kurt Tippett.
In what is a hard luck story for Nankervis, who Longmire said has rucked well alongside Sam Naismith in Tippett and injured Callum Sinclair's absence, an opportunity presents for veteran McGlynn who's been on the cusp of a senior recall for the past four weeks.
"Toby took it really well, he'll get a lot of confidence out of the way he's been playing," Longmire said.
"Ben gets an opportunity which is fantastic for him. He’s played a lot of senior footy, he’s very good in that part of the ground, but also through the midfield.
"Obviously losing Kieren, we needed a player who is going to fill those roles for us."
