The Sydney Swans Football Club wishes Tony Lockett a very happy 50th birthday!
On March 9, 1966, one of the greatest footballers to play our game was born in the country town of Ballarat, 100km north-west of Melbourne.
The man affectionately known as ‘Plugger’ would go on to be the league’s greatest goal kicker, booting 1360 goals in an AFL career spanning 281 games at St Kilda and Sydney.
It is a resume few could compete with; the 1987 Brownlow Medal, 4 x Coleman Medals, 5x All Australians, 3 x Best and Fairests, Legend status in the AFL Hall of Fame and a member of both the St Kilda and Sydney Swans Team of the Century.
Happy Birthday Plugger!
