Senior assistant coach Stuart Dew is happy at the Swans and will not pursue the vacant Brisbane Lions coaching role.

Dew is enjoying his role at the Swans and felt it was important to ensure his side could focus fully on their premiership chances without any distraction.

“Last year there was a lot of talk about what I am doing and I don’t really want that talk while we are trying to win a premiership,” Dew told Radio Sport National.

“I came out pretty early to say I won’t be applying and I will just be continuing my development.

“What I have learnt in these scenarios is that they will have preferred candidates and with my experience and where I’m at I’m very happy doing what I am doing.”

Dew said he was enjoying his time with the Swans and was in no rush to chase a senior role.

“I think that given a lot of the talk that has been around in regards to who they are going after I don’t think my profile fits that,” he said.

“I’m not in a rush, I’m only 37 and I don’t want to jump in too early.

“If I see an opportunity that feels like a good fit I will certainly go at it flat out but it wasn’t the case on this occasion.”
