Former director Lynn Ralph has been announced as one of six finalists for the 2016 Football Woman of the Year Award.
Ralph, who retired from the board in February after nine years in the position, his one of three honorary nominees alongside Sally Riley (Program Facilitator at SEDA in Darwin) and Janet Seth (Western Australia Women's Football League board member).
Alison Moore (Female High Performance Manager and Female Football Manager at the WA Football Commission), Daisy Pearce (AFL’s Female Football Ambassador and Melbourne Football Club's Women's Team recent marquee selection) and Libby Sadler (Female Programs Manager at AFLNSW/NT) have been nominated under the professional category.
All six are in the line to win the major accolade to be awarded at an official luncheon, in conjunction with Liptember Grand Final Comedy Debate, on September 29.
Now in its 19th year, the Football Woman of the Year Award is the premier AFL-endorsed event that recognises those who've made a significant contribution to the game of Australian Rules Football.
Previous winners have included Dr Sue Alberti AO, Irene Chatfield, Debbie Lee, Jill Lindsay, Belinda Durate, Michelle Cowan, Pete Searle and 2015 recipient Jan Cooper.
Ralph for almost two decades has been a strong advocate for the enhancement of women in football and the development of the code in NSW.
She was a Foundation Member of the AFL NSW/ACT Commission and the first woman to be appointed to the Sydney Swans Board of Directors.
She has also played an instrumental role in founding L@SS (Ladies the the Sydney Swans), the Club’s official women’s supporter group.
