Sydney Swans star forward Lance Franklin believes there's a chance that a player can kick 100 goals this season, but he said that it won't necessarily be him.
Franklin has kicked 37 goals form nine games this year at an average of 4.1 per match, and at that rate is on target to become the first player to reach three figures since he booted 113 in Hawthorn's premiership season of 2008.
The triple Coleman medallist played 25 games that year, and with the Swans almost finals certainties, and a definite chance to make the top four, the milestone seems well within reach.
"I think it can be done, but who knows who it will be – there's a lot of guys kicking a lot of goals," Franklin said.
"To get 100 goals would be an unbelievable effort, but you've got to play consistently well over the course of the year.
"Play is opening up and there's one-on-ones happening, and as you can see this year, blokes have kicked bags of goals.
"I think that's what people love to come to the football to see."
Franklin's next chance to add to his tally comes when the Swans kick off this year's Indigenous Round, named after Sir Doug Nicholls, against North Melbourne at the SCG on Friday night.
The West Australian said he wanted to move on from the booing controversy surrounding his former teammate and Swans great Adam Goodes, and hoped the round was celebrated for what Indigenous players bring to the sport.
Franklin even hinted that he wants to step into the shoes of Goodes' and become a spokesman for indigenous issues in the future.
"I don't consciously stay away from it, but I think it's something that I'll grow into as the years go on," he said.
"Guys like 'Goodesy' (Adam Goodes) and 'Micky O' (Michael O'Loughlin) were great role models for myself and were people I looked up to."
