Sydney Swans midfielder Josh Kennedy capped off a stellar 2012 home and away season by finishing in the top 10 of the AFL’s Brownlow Medal count last night.

Kennedy, who attended the Sydney Swans club event with six of his team mates, got off to a flying start with two best-on-ground, three-vote performances in the round one and two wins over GWS and Fremantle, respectively.

The 24-year-old also polled three-votes in the round 5 win over his former side Hawthorn in Launceston, as well as in round 17 against St Kilda at the SCG and round 21 against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.

Kennedy, who had only ever polled three Brownlow Medal votes going into the count, twice polled two votes in losses to Collingwood (round 20) and again against Hawthorn (round 22) to finish the count with 19 votes.

Kieren Jack was the second best vote-getter for the Swans, polling 15 votes, including best-on-ground performances against North Melbourne (round 4), Melbourne (round 8) and GWS (round 14).

Dan Hannebery (12 votes), Ryan O’Keefe (11) and Jude Bolton (10) were the three other Swans players to finish in double figures.

Swans young guns Lewis Jetta (5) and Sam Reid (2) both polled their first-ever Brownlow Medal votes.
