Superstar forward Lance Franklin has thanked the football community for their support upon being named in the 2016 All Australian side.

Dane Rampe, Dan Hannebery, Josh Kennedy and Luke Parker made up the five Swans to make the side.

Franklin was named in his sixth All Australian team on Thursday night joining elite company with Geelong veteran Corey Enright (six) and Gold Coast captain Gary Ablett (eight) the only other current day players with such an achievement.

The 29-year-old admitted it was an honour he would reflect on more deeply at the end of his football career.

“I have been lucky enough to get those All Australians but I think it is something I will look back on when I finish my career and be very proud of it.”

“I still have another six years to go so hopefully I can still play some more good football.”

Franklin said he had enjoyed his football over the last twelve months and thanked those closest to him for their ongoing support.

“I had to make some decisions with my life twelve months ago and it was something that I needed to do for myself,” he said.

“I am really pleased that I did what I needed to and I have come out the other side really happy.”

“The football club, my family and partner played a big part in that so I am fortunate enough to have that support around me to help me through the tough times.”

“Footy has been a major factor in me being in a good place.”

Despite the amazing individual achievement, it was clear the star forward had one thing on his mind – beating the Giants in the first week of finals.

“I obviously love playing football and it helps when you are winning games of football,” he said.

“This is the most exciting time to be playing, next week we have GWS it is going to be an unbelievable game and I just can’t wait to get out there.”
