SYDNEY Swans coach Paul Roos is not taking in-form Fremantle lightly despite a slew of retirements robbing Mark Harvey's side of experience ahead of Saturday's clash at the SCG.

The Swans coach says 13th spot on the ladder (5-13) is not an accurate reflection of Freo's overall quality. And he feels the visitors will have nothing to lose against a Swans side desperate to hang onto fourth spot with North Melbourne, Adelaide and St Kilda all breathing down their necks.

"Those sides who can't make the eight tend to play a lot freer, with nothing to lose. They're over here, they're excited, they're young," Roos said today.

Fremantle has won three on the spin including last week's emotional Western derby against the West Coast which also served as stalwart Shaun McManus's farewell.

"They've still got some good players with (Matthew) Pavlich, (Luke) McPharlin up forward and (Antoni) Grover down back and (Roger) Hayden will probably come back in. And Sandilands in the ruck so they've still got enough quality," Roos said.

Heath Black, Peter Bell, Matthew Carr and McManus have all retired from the Freo list recently as the club builds towards 2009.

"I think over the course of the year Fremantle have been a more consistent team than the ladder position suggests. They lost a lot of games early on by small margins. Fremantle are a fair bit better than five wins suggest."

Roos added he didn't think stopping power forward Pavlich (63 goals) would stop Freo, citing two weeks ago when the side was without their talisman and still kicked 20 goals to beat Port Adelaide.

Key players Adam Goodes and Leo Barry have returned to the side. Patrick Veszpremi retains his spot, but Ryan Brabazon is an emergency.

Luke Ablett and Jesse White have been omitted, while Jarred Moore joins Goodes and Barry back in the 22. Nick Malceski has been selected as an emergency and will play with the reserves.
