Swans midfielders Luke Parker and Gary Rohan did their best to wrestle some votes off Richmond in the AFLCA Player of the Year Award.
Parker (2 votes) and Rohan (1 vote) earned some plaudits in the Round 13 clash but were ultimately overshadowed by the likes of leading goal kicker Jack Riewoldt who earned the full quota of 10 votes.
Richmond’s Trent Cotchin (7), Alex Rance (6 votes) and Anthony Miles (4 votes) rounded out the vote getters.
Swans coach John Longmire and Richmond coach Damien Hardwick found it hard to leave out Parker for his 24 disposals (12 contested), six clearances, seven tackles and two goals.
And who could forget Rohan’s impact of 16 possessions, seven marks, three forward 50 entries and two goals.
Runaway leader in Nat Fyfe (Fremantle) tops the overall leaderboard on 98 season votes with Swans star Dan Hannebery a little way behind but still in touch on 61.
Parker moves into 10th spot on the leaderboard.
