On the eve of the Round 3 derby against GWS, the Swans together with partner Airbnb handed the Thorley family the chance of a lifetime; an opportunity to sleepover at the SCG.

Their apartment for the night was a transformed corporate suite in the Victor Trumper stand which featured all the creature comforts one would expect at an Airbnb property complete with a distinct Swans theme.

Loyal Swans fans Gerry, Susan and Anna Thorley arrived at the SCG with nephew Archie Cropley in tow last Friday afternoon to kick off a memorable 36 hours.
Their adventure started with a tour of the Club’s inner sanctum before dining with Swans’greats Jude Bolton and Nick Davis, in the prestigious SCG Members’ Pavilion for a private dinner.

On their tour the Thorley’s relived the clubs most famous moments, including Davis’ last gasp goal against the Cats in the 2005 Semi-Final (as told by him!) and a private screening of the 2012 Grand Final on the big screen.

Saturday morning was jam packed with media appearances on Channel 7’s Sunrise and a kick-to-kick on the hallowed turf before the team’s arrived. Sue and her family then played host to 30 guests at “their place” for the game, whereby they made the most of the large balcony directly behind the goals at the Randwick end of the ground.

The experience for 12-year-old Archie was one he’ll never forget; his highlights include running out with the team through the banner, visiting Jude Bolton in the Triple M commentary box and being interviewed for the big screen.

Following the game, the family enjoyed the spoils of the victory in the change rooms as they mingled with players and coaches, celebrating the Swans faultless start to their 2015 campaign.

Winner of the SCG Sleepover, Susan Thorley described the experience as unforgettable, and something the family never thought possible.

“To have the opportunity to sleep at the Sydney Cricket Ground, as the guest of the Sydney Swans, is honestly something I never had imagined in my wildest dreams,” she said.

“I can’t thank the football club and Airbnb enough for letting us live the dream at the SCG!”
