Swans midfielder Josh Kennedy is expecting another big week in light of Adam Goodes’ anticipated return for Saturday night’s clash against Geelong.
Kennedy, speaking to SwansTV in the rooms following the weekend’s win over Adelaide, envisaged an electric atmosphere at Geelong’s Simons Stadium similar to what was experienced by everyone involved at the SCG on Saturday afternoon.
As the coaching staff and playing group look forward to welcoming Goodes back, the dual Brownlow Medallist’s inclusion would no doubt heighten the anticipation surrounding what was already building as a big game at Kardinia Park.
“We’re looking forward to getting down there, it’s going to be another great game and great atmosphere,” Kennedy said.
“It’ll be another big week in the media depending on what happens with AG (Adam Goodes). He has got a world of support behind him and we’d love to get him back.”
Kennedy is confident Cats fans will show the same respect and admiration for the Swans’ number 37 as the small but boisterous section of the Adelaide fans who turned out for the Round 18 clash.
Despite busily collecting 32 disposals in the 52-point win Kennedy, for a split second, was drawn to a banner in the stands which read “Crows for Goodesy” – a gesture which didn’t go unnoticed by the playing group.
“To come out in front of a big crowd, full of both Adelaide and Sydney fans, was special,” Kennedy added.
“They’ve obviously had some huge challenges in the last few weeks so to get behind us was fantastic. It was such a great day to be a part of.”
The Swans record at Simons Stadium is not bright having only won once in the past 10 matches with the last victory coming in Round 23, 2011.
