Swans recruit Callum Sinclair is looking forward to hitting the ground running with his new club.

Sinclair donned the red and white for the first time while winding down from the “rollercoaster” of a month which has included a devastating Grand Final loss and a trade from West Coast to the Sydney Swans.

The 26-year-old was the sought-after man in a straight swap for Lewis Jetta, the Swans’ first and only move of this year’s Trade Period which officially ends on Thursday.

Sinclair, standing 200cm, expressed relief the process was over and was excited for the move to Sydney.

“It’s been a rollercoaster couple of weeks but I’m really excited to get to Sydney, meet all the boys and get stuck into training,” Sinclair told SwansTV while visiting family in Melbourne.

“A few days after the Grand Final I sat down with my management and the Eagles realising both clubs could facilitate a trade.

“I think it has worked out well for both clubs”

Sinclair enjoyed a breakout year for the Eagles in season 2015 following the retirement of Dean Cox, playing 20 matches as a counterpart to Nic Naitanui.

Drafted as a mature age recruit in the 2013 Rookie Draft (Pick 12 overall), Sinclair has showed his value as a goal-kicking ruckman over the journey by booting 18 goals in 29 career games and is expected to fill a similar role in his new colours.

“I played more in the forward line as a junior,” Sinclair said.

“Forward line work comes more naturally than ruck work but that’ll continue being a focus area for me.”

Despite not knowing anyone at the Swans, Sinclair has already felt welcomed having received text messages and phone calls from the likes of co-captain Jarrad McVeigh and senior coach John Longmire.

“John has been really supportive through the whole process,” Sinclair said.

“Coming off a Grand Final loss is not easy for a player so he’s been really helpful and has been keen to get me over which is great.”

Sinclair is expected to join the playing group for preseason training in late November.
