Former Sydney Swan Paul Bevan has been cleared of serious injury following a horrific clash in the WAFL on the weekend.
There were concerns Bevan had suffered spinal injuries after a heavy collision with Swan Districts’ full-back Tallan Ames and Perth Demons team mate Matt Tedesco in the third quarter of Sunday's match at Brownes Stadium.
But the 2005 premiership player confirmed on Monday night that he had been cleared of any long-term injuries.
“I spent the night in hospital last night and I've been cleared of any spinal or neck injuries which is great,” Bevan told sydneyswans.com.au.
“I am off to the facial surgeon (on Tuesday) for surgery after the X-rays showed a bad break to the left side of my jaw.”
Bevan said he wasn’t aware of how long he would be sidelined for the Demons, but was relieved with the diagnosis.
“(The doctor) hasn't told me too many details yet in terms of recovery time,” he said.
“There hasn't been too much pain which is good just a bit of whiplash from the incident.”
The former Swan, who played 129 games between 2004 and 2011, expressed his gratitude for the support he has received from Sydney fans.
“It's nice to know some supporters have been worried about me and my health,” he said.
