Sydney Swans co-captain Adam Goodes will return to the field in Friday night’s game against Essendon after missing last weekend’s pre-season win over North Melbourne through suspension.
Goodes will be joined in the side by Rhyce Shaw, who was rested last week, while Sam Reid has also been included in the squad.
Swans coach John Longmire said he was pleased with Reid’s progression from a sore knee and would make a call on the key forward’s inclusion based on this afternoon’s training session.
While the possibility of Dan Hannebery playing on Friday night was floated earlier in the week, the 21-year old has not been named in the squad to travel to Melbourne.
After returning to the field last week, the quintet of Josh Kennedy, Shane Mumford, Gary Rohan, Andrejs Everitt and Lewis Roberts-Thomson have all been named to go around again against the Bombers.
