Entertaining Sydney Swans small forward Tom Papley and a host of other guns have spearheaded Victoria to a 46-point win over the All Stars in the State of Origin clash for bushfire relief on Friday night.

But Sydney's leading 2019 goal-kicker wasn't the only Swan who put on a spectacle in the Marvel Stadium blockbuster, with the All Stars' Callum Mills playing an influential role in defence and going tantalisingly close to hauling down a sensational grab.

The All Stars rocketed to an early 22-point lead but Papley responded with Victoria's first two goals to begin a 'Big V' charge, his first off a deadeye set shot from the left pocket and his second just as slick from the right pocket.

When the 23-year-old slotted his fifth goal of the night on the final siren, it iced a breathtaking Victoria run that saw the 'home' side pile on 11 unanswered goals en route to a 24.10 (154) to 15.18 (108) triumph.

Victoria produced a spirited comeback to overturn a 30-point deficit and storm home against a talented All Stars outfit in the first game of its kind since the 2008 AFL Hall of Fame Tribute Match.

The Victorians' late surge was led by the class of Dustin Martin and Josh Kelly in the forward line and the leadership of Trent Cotchin and Scott Pendlebury in the midfield.

Martin – already a Brownlow Medal winner, a two-time premiership player and a dual Norm Smith medallist – added a State of Origin best-on-ground medal to his list of accomplishments following a stellar game yielding 23 disposals and two goals.

He was aided by Papley (11 disposals, five goals), Toby Greene (23 disposals, four goals) and Kelly (22 disposals, four goals) – who were a constant menace forward of centre.

For the All Stars, Stephen Coniglio (24 disposals, two goals) was busy across the ground, while livewire forward Charlie Cameron (17 disposals, three goals) was also impressive.

However, early inaccuracy in front of goal cost the All Stars dearly.

The All Stars had been dominant, if slightly wasteful, controlling the territory battle and opening up an early 22-point lead with the first three goals of the match.

In fact, they'd kept the Victorians goalless throughout the first 15 minutes.

But the 'Big V' then added four straight and was suddenly ahead.

Goals were being poured on at a rapid rate. Whether it was Martin snapping on both sides of his body at one end, or Coniglio miraculously working through scrums to force it home at the other, the scores and entertainment grew as the night wore on.

The friendly club rivalries were sparked when star Swan Mills nearly pulled down one of the all-time great grabs in a stunning leap over Sydney teammate Papley.

There was also James Sicily giving his Hawks mate Luke Breust stick behind play, while Coniglio's battle with his Giants buddy Lachie Whitfield was just as intriguing.

Meanwhile, Sydney defender Jake Lloyd represented Victoria and finished with 15 disposals.
