As community precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 continue to increase it has become necessary to suspend our QBE Sydney Swans Academy program for the remainder of Term One.
Our decision is in line with the AFL’s decision to suspend all NAB League, National Championships and talent activity until May 31.
This will impact training and the Academy Cup for the Under 11 to Under 15 Youth Boys and Youth Girls programs.
The health and wellbeing of people is our number one priority. We are following advice from the AFL to protect the health of our Academy and wider Sydney Swans community.
We know this is a difficult time for everyone in the community and we want to thank all families involved in the QBE Sydney Swans Academy for their patience as we navigate this challenging situation together.
It’s hoped we can resume our programs at the start of Term 2 or soon after. In the interim, our Academy Managers will be looking at ways to facilitate individual training for our future stars.
We are also planning to extend the Academy training program at the tail end of the season, from mid-August to early September, to make up for the missed sessions.
The situation with COVID-19 is changing rapidly. We will continue to be guided by the government and the AFL and will continue to provide updates as details come to hand.
