Sydney Swans co-captain Josh Kennnedy has spoken of the life changing move to Sydney during the 2010 pre-season after just 13 games with Hawthorn.
A three year deal put on the table in late 2009 was the catalyst that ignited the deal to move to the Harbour City.
“At the end of the year Dad told me about the Swans interest and they backed that up with a three year contract,” Kennedy told Conversations with Cal presented by QBE.
“I went from nine weeks earlier thinking my career was potentially finished in the AFL to getting offered a three year contract.
“Not only were they backing me in from what they had said but they had backed it up with a three year contract so I took that to Clarko at the Hawks.
“I said this is what I have got on the table, what do you think? And without effectively saying the words it was clear that it was going to be tough if I stayed at Hawthorn.
“The decision was made pretty easily albeit it was a hard one to tell my Grandfather at the time.”
The full interview with Kennedy goes into detail around a range of topics from his family life, what he is doing to keep busy in isolation and his move to Sydney which eventuate in a premiership and him becoming captain.
