Sydney Swans defender Jake Lloyd is confident he would be ready to return to playing whenever it is the AFL decides to resume the season.
The 26-year-old has been taking part in up to three fitness sessions a week to maintain his fitness levels throughout the current shutdown period.
Lloyd is back in his hometown of Horsham where his Dad is a personal trainer with a full gym setup at their house, making it easier for him to complete the training he needs to do.
The classy half back is confident he would only need a couple of weeks back training with his teammates before a resumption of the season.
“We are still training really hard at the moment and our sessions are pretty solid, so our fitness bases are going to be there,” Lloyd told Big Sports Breakfast.
“It is more about getting the footballs in hand and that connection with other players is what will be the most important thing.
“I would say for me personally two or three weeks and I would be ready to go but they may be different for a lot of players.
“It just depends on how each player is assessing the situation at the moment, I know there will be players that will be not doing much at all and having a break. It will change for each player.”
Lloyd said the importance of that connection had not been lost with regular catch ups happening among the playing group from week to week.
“We catch up once a week as a whole group, the Club will most Friday afternoon’s catch up via Zoom,” Lloyd said.
“As defenders we will do our off legs session so our bikes or boxing while we catch up doing a session together once a week.”
“The communication is always there, and we are checking in with people around the Club to make sure mentally we are healthy and physically as well.”
