At the midway point of the season, the Swans hold an 8-3 record and sit amongst the competition’s top ranked teams during the bye round.

From the team’s emotional win over the Hawks in Launceston and last weekend’s heart-stopping win over the Dons, to the horrific injury of young Swan Gary Rohan, sydneyswans.com.au and SwansTV have taken a look at the highs and lows of the Swans’ season so far.

Round 1: Sydney Swans (100) defeated GWS (37) at ANZ Stadium

A dominant second half saw the Swans take out the first ever Sydney Derby against new AFL franchise, GWS. Josh Kennedy was awarded the inaugural Brett Kirk Medal.

Round 2: Sydney Swans (94) defeated Fremantle (81) at the SCG

The Swans withstood a second half fight back by the Dockers to take out the match by 13 points. Josh Kennedy was again the dominant midfielder on field with 36 touches.

Round 3: Sydney Swans (105) defeated Port Adelaide (83) at AAMI Stadium

A six goal to three final term saw the Swans kick away to a 22-point win and record their first interstate win for the season.  Following the match, co-captain Adam Goodes was suspended for a sliding tackle made on Port’s Jacob Surjan.

Round 4: Sydney Swans (113) defeated North Melbourne (77) at the SCG

Three goals each to Ben McGlynn, Andrejs Everitt and Lewis Jetta contributed to Sydney’s 36-point win over the Roos. The Swans fourth consecutive win of the season was dampened by a season ending broken leg to Swans young gun Gary Rohan in the first quarter.

Round 5: Sydney Swans (106) defeated Hawthorn (69) at Aurora Stadium

Adam Goodes celebrated his 304th record-breaking game with three second half goals against the Hawks in Launceston. The come-from-behind win marked the club’s fifth consecutive win for the season.

Round 6: Sydney Swans (94) lost to Adelaide (99) at the SCG

A quad injury to Adam Goodes following what was one of his season-best performances added to the disappointment of the Swans first loss for the season. The Crows charged home with four straight goals at the start of the last quarter to steal a five point win at the SCG.

Round 7: Sydney Swans (62) lost to Richmond (91) at the MCG

A poor start, which saw the Tigers kick five unanswered goals, was the catalyst for a disappointing 29-point loss to Richmond in Melbourne.

Round 8: Sydney Swans (138) defeated Melbourne (37) at the SCG

A seven goal to nil first quarter saw the Swans set up what would be a 101-point win over Melbourne. The win was the first time Sydney had broken the 100-point winning margin since 2006.

Round 9: Sydney Swans (83) lost to St Kilda (111) at Etihad Stadium

After leading by nine points in the first term, the Swans were overcome by the Saints who piled on 11 goals to six in the second and third terms. The Swans won the final quarter, but were unable to make up for their performance through the middle terms.

Round 10: Sydney Swans (132) defeated the Western Bulldogs (40) at the SCG.

The Swans kicked nine straight goals in the opening terms to hold an almost unassailable 47-point lead in wet conditions at the SCG. Jude Bolton was the standout, notching up a career-best 41 possessions. The only sore point was a broken collarbone to young midfielder Luke Parker.

Round 11: Sydney Swans (86) defeated Essendon (82) at Etihad Stadium

The Swans held a 48-point lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter before the Bombers stormed home kicking nine goals to two. Lewis Jetta was a stand out in the Swans four-point victory over the Dons.
