Last time the Swans ran into some transport issues was round nine last year when a broken down bus and peak hour traffic saw many players journey to the MCG by tram or on foot. That night, the Swans produced some of their best footy in a big win over the Pies. Perhaps it is a positive omen then, as some more transport issues enroute to last Friday night’s match resulted in victory yet again. On Thursday, as the Boeing 737-800 carrying the team to Melbourne taxied along the runway, the captain of the Virgin Australia flight declared a problem with the plane’s brakes. A quick pit-stop in the Lounge, a new brake pad for the plane, and the team was back on track again, landing in Melbourne some two hours behind schedule.
We had a huge response to last week’s competition to guess the length of Buddy Franklin's big bomb against Port Adelaide. The huge response to the competition has seen a key player in the video signed to a full time role inside the SwansTV offices ... so stay tuned for more measuring madness from our Trundle Wheel in the future.
There is no doubt that Zak Jones brought with him a feisty reputation when he debuted on the MCG on Friday night. During his time at TAC Cup club Dandenong, it is said Zak was withdrawn from pre-match warm-ups for fear his tough and uncompromising style would injure fellow team mates before the ball was even bounced. Debuting for the Swans in the pre-season competition against the Brisbane Lions in Burpengary, Zak was made to wait some three-and-a-half quarters before getting a taste of the action, but it took no more than 30 seconds for Jones to run on to the field and ‘introduce’ himself to Lions skipper Jed Adcock with a push, shove and a bit of a wrestle. After being injected into the Richmond game at half-time, Jones wasted no time in finding himself a scuffle, this time with Tiger Nick Vlastuin. Jones’ jumper was ripped in the scuffle, which came as absolutely no surprise to his team mates Brandon Jack and Luke Parker who tweeted about “Scholsey’s” efforts. Special mention must go to Ted Richards for his outstanding congratulatory tweet. We have the feeling that while he may not develop into a favourite of other clubs fans, the Swans-faithful will love the tough way Zak goes about his business.
An outstanding effort from @zakjones10 on his debut last night..Ripped jumper within two minutes, wouldn't expect anything less! #goswans

It was an all-star Swans line-up at the MCG to watch us take on the Tigers. Tweeting madly from his corporate box was the Wiz, Warwick Capper. While sitting quietly in the media box was Derek Kickett, fresh from celebrating the Marngrook Footy Show’s 200th episode. Anthony Daniher was part of the pre-match function, while the great Bob Skilton wandered down to the rooms post-match with his granddaughter Bec, also a huge Swans fan.lovin watching my mighty @sydneyswans ready 2 launch @MCG tonight ! horse - whack me in fwd pocket 2 sink a lazy 9 !! pic.twitter.com/0Yv6dZiGLE

It's always great to see the legend Bobby Skilton in the rooms after a win. Doesn't mind an interview either #goswans pic.twitter.com/cw2Xr0add6

It has been eight years of pain for New South Wales supporters in the State Of Origin and among those feeling the anguish has been Swans skipper Kieren Jack. Jack was proudly wearing his NSW guernsey around the Swans offices on Wednesday and was over the moon to see the boys wrap up the series at ANZ Stadium later that night. Unfortunately for Jack, there are no born and bred Queenslanders at the Swans for Jack to gloat to, not a single person with two heads. Though growing up on the Gold Coast, Kurt Tippett was born in NSW and is a big Blues fan.Spotted: @kjack_15 repping the state colours around the club today ahead of #Origin pic.twitter.com/QAS979BWwo

For more than 20 years, she was the First Lady of the Sydney Swans, and now Susie Colless - wife of former Chairman Richard Colless - has ventured into the jewellery market. Susie recently launched the Colless Collection range of beautiful jewellery. The best part for Swans fans, Susie has created a dedicated range of red and white jewellery, perfect for fancying up your match-day attire or bringing a little red and white into your life during the week. You can check it all out at www.collesscollections.com.auAfter suffering defeat in round one, and now trying to push for a spot in the top four, there is plenty on the line for the Swans this Saturday night against GWS. History also beckons, with the club on the verge of stringing together its greatest winning streak ever as the Sydney Swans. The Swans current nine-match streak equals a run that began in round 10, 2012. Pre the move to Sydney, South Melbourne recorded three 12-match winning streaks, the most recent back in the premiership year of 1933.
Hats off to the 50 or so very original, very humorous types on social media who all came up with the same gag about NBA star LeBron James joining the Swans, after opting out of his playing contract with Miami to become a free agent #zingers. For the record, we actually don’t mind this piece of work from @pgmcc23 on Twitter. At 203cm, 113kgs and with the mobility of Benny McGlynn, we think we could find a spot for King James somewhere at the Swans.
@sydneyswans rumoured to be in talks with @KingJames management. Looking to assemble a potential #BIG3 pic.twitter.com/AfTJh65ajH
