Sydney Swans forward Lance Franklin was a clear match-winner in last Saturday’s four-point victory over Port Adelaide and was awarded accordingly by both coaches with ten votes in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award.

Franklin, who kicked the Swans’ last five goals of the match, also picked up 23 disposals, seven inside 50s and six marks and sent the SCG crowd of over 41-thousand into raptures in a standout second half performance.

Franklin finished ahead of Port’s dynamic midfield pairing of Brad Ebert and Robbie Gray who combined for 75 touches and three goals as they pushed the Swans all the way to the final play of the match.

Kieren Jack , Rhyce Shaw, Jarrad McVeigh and Nick Smith picked up the ‘minor’ votes from the match, all adding to their season tallies.

After registering votes in the last nine games, Josh Kennedy failed to poll a vote against Port Adelaide but remains in second position to Gold Coast’s Gary Ablett on the overall leaderboard.
