QBE Foundation makes donation to GO Foundation
The QBE Foundation has this evening made a $25,000 donation to the Goodes-O'Loughlin Foundation
O’Loughlin accepted the donation at half-time of the Swans Indigenous Round clash with Geelong at the SCG.
The GO Foundation was established by Swans’ greats Adam Goodes and O’Loughlin, with the aim of enabling a brighter future for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, concentrating on the three key pillars of education, employment and healthy lifestyles.
The GO Foundation believes that education is the single most important factor in Indigenous Australians achieving a brighter future, and aims to provide education scholarships for Indigenous students.
Chair of the QBE Foundation, Tony MacRae said the philosophy of the QBE Foundation is to support charities that help people overcome disadvantage, strengthen their abilities, and live more independently, successfully and productively.
"QBE has been proudly standing behind the Swans for 28 years and has been the logo on the chests of Adam Goodes and Michael O'Loughlin for their entire playing careers. They are also making a difference off the field and we're excited to have the opportunity, through the QBE Foundation, to support the positive contribution the Goodes-O'Loughlin Foundation is making to the lives of Indigenous Australians,” MacRae said.
“The life-changing work of the GO Foundation to self-empower Indigenous communities through education and employment is a true example of our philosophy; helping to make this work possible is exactly what the QBE Foundation strives to do.”
Co-founder of the GO Foundation, O’Loughlin said he was thankful to the QBE Foundation for their support.
“Both Adam and I are incredibly passionate about the work we do in the Indigenous community and we are thankful to the QBE Foundation for their support, which assists us with our goal of helping Indigenous students get a great education," O’Loughlin said.
“Through playing for the Swans and now coaching the QBE Sydney Swans Academy, I have had a long association with QBE, and it is fantastic they have chosen to back the work of the GO Foundation.
“This is a really exciting announcement for us as we look to ramp up the work of the GO Foundation, and we look forward to sharing another exciting announcement as Indigenous Round continues.”
