Bio

A centre half-forward or half-forward-flanker, Bill Gunn played 104 games and kicked 101 goals for the Club from 1952 to 1959. He was captain of South Melbourne in 1955, the Club’s leading goalkicker in 1956, and a Victorian State representative in 1952, 1954, 1956 and 1959. Remarkably, he was first selected for State football after having played only five senior games. Dogged by injury, he retired from football at only 27, but maintained his association with the Club, serving as a runner and an assistant coach.
