Agile forward Trent Dennis-Lane has been added to the side to play Hawthorn as the coaching staff look to bolster the Swans attack.

Coach Paul Roos says Dennis-Lane has been in good form in the reserves, kicking four goals last week in the first half before being taken off because he was emergency for the seniors.

Brett Meredith has been omitted after a quiet game against Geelong, and Roos said he was unlucky.

“He’s probably a bit stiff because he probably has some mates who could have had a spell with him,’’ Roos said.

“But trying to get another goal kicker in is really important, Trent played reasonably well when he played a couple of senior games earlier in the season.’’

Sam Reid and Nathan Gordon have been named as emergencies for the senior team, reward for their recent strong form in the reserves.

Gordon, a Sydney boy who played his junior football at Baulkham Hills, has had an exciting week. He has been elevated from the Club’s rookie list to the senior list, in place of Henry Playfair, who has retired.

Roos said Gordon was doing everything asked of him and was a great example of how young players could advance at the Swans.

“By weight of performance, he's now pushed his way on to the senior list because he tries as hard as he possibly can," Roos said.

"He runs as hard as he possibly can and he does the things we want our senior players to do in the seconds.’’
