THE undefeated Sydney Swans reserves will make their inaugural trip to the Gold Coast for tomorrow afternoon’s game against the Suns reserves at Metricon Stadium from 3pm.
The reserves are coming off back-to-back victories in excess of 25 goals, and have strengthened their line-up by adding five players who featured in last weekend’s senior team loss to Adelaide.
Mark Seaby returns to the team as the number one ruckman, and will be joined around the stoppages by Luke Parker who slots back in to his role as an onballer.
Andrejs Everitt has been named at centre half-back, which frees Lewis Johnston to go forward in a formidable forward line that also features the returning Jesse White and Paul Bevan.
The defence will have their work cut out against Suns big forward Charlie Dixon who caused plenty of problems for the Swans in their last NEAFL meeting.
The last time the Swans reserves and Suns reserves met, back in May, the Swans came away winners 18.12 120 to 3.10 28.
But Dixon comes into tomorrow’s game in fine form after kicking 11 goals in the Suns 95-point win over Southport last weekend.
In a blow for the free scoring Swans, Eastern Conference leading goalkicker, Trent Dennis-Lane, will miss the game after suffering a foot injury before yesterday’s training session. Dennis-Lane is having scans which will reveal the extent of the injury.
Matt Spangher, who has played well for the reserves the past few weeks, has been promoted to senior duty for tomorrow night’s game against the Suns seniors. Dennis-Lane and Spangher have combined for 32 of the Swans 66 goals over the last two weeks.
