Going into pre-season training, Jarred Moore knew he had to do something different to regain a regular spot in the Swans senior line up.

He identified his fitness as the area that needed most improvement, and while the majority of his teammates practised their skills prior to Christmas, a determined Moore could be found continuously running the boundary line with the consistency of a metronome.

“I sat down with the coaches at the end of last year and said that I really wanted to get fit,” he told SwansTV this morning.

“Working with (Swans Elite Performance Coach) Rob Spurrs, he's given me a program to work off.

“I just want to get the (fitness) base going so then I can make sure I get to as many contests as I can.”

Now back in training with the main group and working on the skill-side of his game - as well as maintaining the fitness he’s worked on - the 25-year old is focused on staking his claim for senior selection and building on his 68-game career.

“Really, I want to be able to play the first pre-season game and from there just hold my position in round 1,” he said.

“Getting in the side round one, that’s what I’m looking forward to.

“I really love being around the boys and love the club as well.”

Moore said he still wanted to play as a small forward, who can add versatility by pushing into the midfield when he gets the chance.

Always one looking to improve, Moore spent last weekend in Melbourne with teammate Kieren Jack attending an AFL coaching course.

Moore revealed that upon returning from Melbourne he found his housemates, youngsters Tom Mitchell and Luke Parker, had also had a tough weekend - each sporting a nice tan after apparently spending the weekend in Speedos lounging by their Eastgardens’ pool.

Hopefully the trio can all work hard together on the field beginning with the aforementioned NAB Cup opener starting in a month from tomorrow.
