Sydney Swans defender Jake Lloyd believes the strength of the Sydney Swans list is key, with the side currently having a handful of injuries to important players.
Lloyd, who is averaging 27.8 disposals a game after a solid start to season 2021, said that despite the absence of players others in the squad are more than capable of stepping up.
"We have had a few injuries the last couple of weeks but it's just about the 'next man up' mentality," Lloyd said on Triple M's Rush Hour.
"I think that's a strength of us this year, the depth of our squad and that we have players that can come in and play a role which is important.
"It's not ideal (to have injuries) and hopefully we can get a few of those guys back sooner rather than later but we are still confident in the game style that we have, it doesn't matter who comes in, we can get the job done."
Lloyd played his 160th AFL match on Saturday and is one of the more experienced heads in the Swans line-up.
He was added to the leadership group this season and is using his experience to mentor the younger members of the squad, such as 2021 debutant Braeden Campbell who joins Lloyd in the defenders group.
"Braeden is pretty special, he could be anything as a footballer," Lloyd said.
"He is a kid that works really hard, he asks a lot of questions and is very driven and has showed that in the first couple of weeks.
"He has a great ability to use the footy off the half back line, it really set us up.
"He will continue to grow as he goes on. It's a lot for a kid that has just come out of Under 18 footy and didn't play a lot last year.
"So to come in and play the first six weeks of footy as he has is great. He has plenty of good footy ahead of him and we are backing him in."
After starting the season with four wins and two losses, the Swans return to the SCG on Saturday night in Round 7 action against the Cats.
