Lance Franklin and Luke Parker have taken a step closer to returning from injury for Sydney’s elimination final against GWS on Saturday.
The pair, who both missed the club’s Round 23 loss to Hawthorn with groin injuries, took part in Tuesday’s training session at the SCG in the team’s first main session of the week.
Sydney Swans Head of Football Tom Harley said the pair were on track to return for Saturday’s match.
“Both players ticked the boxes required of them for the start of the week,” Harley said.
“We have two training sessions this week so both players did what they were required to do today.
“We are feeling really confident with both of them, there have been no hiccups or hurdles at this stage as part of their preparations to get them right for Saturday’s twilight final against the Giants.”
Key forward Sam Reid (achillies) is continuing to make progress in his attempt to return to football this weekend.
Reid joined in training with teammates on Tuesday morning at the SCG.
“We have been looking for Sam to get back into playing and be available for selection, although there hasn’t been much discussion about at what level that would be,” Harley said.
“His return to play involved training today and he’ll train again on Thursday.
“Sam is ticking the main boxes that he is needing to tick so if he gets through the main session on Thursday we will see what the weekend looks like.”
Defender Harry Marsh (hamstring) will also return this week after joining in full training on Tuesday.
“He is ready to go, has full strength and joined in full training today as part of the final stages of his recovery,” Harley said.
“He will be available to play on Saturday.”
