The players have spoken. Josh Kennedy is the Paul Kelly Players’ Player for 2015.
Voted on weekly by members of the senior outfit, Kennedy adds a third Paul Kelly Players’ Player accolade to his collection (2015, 2013 and 2012) after co-piloting the Swans’ midfield contingent alongside Dan Hannebery.
Kennedy’s season was nothing short of enormous, averaging 30 disposals which ranked 1st at the Swans and 2nd in the AFL.
A fourth place finish in the Brownlow Medal count another example of an impressive season.
But, following in the same mould as the trophy’s namesake, Kennedy’s ability to win the hard ball underlined this year’s Players’ Player accolade with the 27-year-old leading the competition for clearances and contested possessions.
Placing fifth in the league’s tackle count was also a significant feat.
Kennedy equals Barry Hall as a three-time winner, while Adam Goodes has won the four times since the award’s inception in 2001.
