One of the greatest Indigenous players of all time, Lance Franklin, can't wait to represent his culture in Friday night's Marn Grook at the SCG game.
Franklin has booted 814 goals spanning across his 256 games with Hawthorn and Sydney.
The star forward wears his proud family history on his arms in the form of some well-researched tattoos.
"Obviously having the Indigenous heritage means a lot to me,” Franklin said.
“I looked at some books and worked out exactly what I wanted, and was able to put together a story.”
Marn Grook at the SCG is a stage that Franklin has embraced since joining the Swans having booted seven goals against Carlton in 2015 before starring with a three-goal performance against North Melbourne last season.
The 30-year-old said he was excited about Sir Doug Nicholls Round, in particular the chance to play in the Marn Grook match under the Friday night lights.
"To be able to play in Indigenous Round is very special, not only to me but everyone,” Franklin said.
"It recognises exactly what Indigenous players bring to the game and I can't wait to play in it."
Hawthorn has had the better of the Swans in recent times having won seven of the past 10 matches between the two sides.
Franklin said he was prepared for the battle of trying to get the win over his former side and make it four in a row for the Swans.
“I think anytime you come up against the Hawks as a Club you look forward to that,” he said.
“What a night – Friday night, Indigenous Round – it is going to be a special one.”
