With the Sydney Swans enjoying a well-earned rest this week courtesy of the bye, a number of players will be taking the opportunity to visit local clubs around Sydney tomorrow.

The Swans players will meet hundreds of kids and adults as they travel around the city.

While some players will be trying their best at coaching, others will be flipping sausages on the barbeque, running water and even umpiring.

Before they attend local clubs, the Swans will get together for a training session tomorrow morning in preparation for their blockbuster match against Geelong on Friday, June 22 at the SCG.  

The following Swans players will be out and about at the below locations tomorrow, Saturday, June 16:

Drummoyne Oval  12:45pm-3pm


Jarred Moore, Mike Pyke and Alex Johnson will be at Taplin Park (adjacent to Drummoyne Oval) from 1pm-2:30 to help coach some of the AFL stars of the future at an AFL NSW/ACT Auskick Super Clinic.

Marty Mattner, Ben McGlynn and Alex Brown will be at Drummoyne Oval for the under-11 and under-12 junior football games, where they will volunteer for such roles as assistant coach, waterboy and canteen helper. One Swans player will also test his skills as an umpire for one of the matches.

Sydney University Oval Number One 1-2:30pm

Lewis Jetta, Campbell Heath and Jordan Lockyer will put on their coaching hats when they visit the Sydney University FC’s Family Club Day, and help coach at the Auskick gala day activities.

Mike Kenny Oval 2pm-4pm

In the Hills region, Swans star Kieren Jack will head back to the club where his AFL career started, the Pennant Hills Demons, and take teammates Jackson Potter (another former Demon) and Nathan Gordon (Sydney Hills Eagles) with him.  In a fitting visit for Past Players Day, Kieren, Nathan and Jackson will all volunteer at the club - assisting with coaching, working in the canteen or running the water - while the Demons take on Nathan Gordon’s former club the Sydney Hills Eagles in the AFL Sydney Premier Division.

Heffron Park 1:30-3pm

Swans stars Shane Mumford, Ryan O’Keefe and Rhyce Shaw will be on hand at the official launch of the AFL NSW/ACT Volunteer of the Year and Coach of the Year Awards. Mumford, O’Keefe and Shaw will also get amongst the action when the under-12 Maroubra Saints take on the Newtown Swans - assisting with coaching, working in the canteen or running the water for the young footballers.
Heffron Park, Jersey Road Matraville

Gwawley Oval 1:30pm-3:30pm

Matt Spangher and Josh Kennedy will lend their support to female football  on Saturday afternoon, when they head down to Gwawley Oval to watch the Southern Power take on Sydney Uni in the AFL Sydney Women’s Competition. Spangher and Kennedy will lend their expertise as assistant coaches for the afternoon, in a fantastic demonstration of support for AFL’s burgeoning female competition. Matt Spangher will find this setting familiar, his sister Narelle plays for the Balmain Dockers.
Gwawley Oval, Taren Point Road Cronulla

Bardon Ridge Oval 1:10pm - 4pm

Nick Smith and Tom Mitchell will attend the Under-15 match between Bangor and Ramsgate at Bardon Ridge Oval.
Old Illawarra Rd, Barden Ridge

Waratah Oval 1:10pm - 4pm

Nick Malceski and Mitch Morton will be spending the afternoon at the Under-15 match between Penshurst and Cronulla at Waratah Oval.
