The Sydney Swans kick off their season against the Brisbane Lions on Saturday March 20, 2021 with Ben Ronke the latest addition to our injury list.
Ahead of round one, Head of Physiotherapy and Medical Services Damian Raper has provided an injury update on the squad.
Earlier this week, John Longmire also provided an update on Callum Mills and Jake Lloyd, with both expected to return for round one.
The key take outs:
BEN RONKE
Ben Ronke has been experiencing some patellofemoral joint pain (kneecap pain) over the last few weeks. He exacerbated this in the East Coast VFL practice game against GWS so he is going to undergo a short period of rehabilitation before we get him back on the field.
ROBBIE FOX
Robbie Fox has seen the hand surgeon and the hand surgeon is really happy with his progress. He is going to start some running in a week or so and is still on track for a return in about eight weeks.
SAM NAISMITH
Sam Naismith has just undergone a battery of testing as part of the latest phase of his rehabilitation. He is going to be working on his leg strength, quad strength, change of direction mechanics over the next four weeks and then we will enter him into match play.
LANCE FRANKLIN
Lance continues to progress well. He completed a 13km football session on the weekend. He continues to train fully with the group and we will look at a return to play for him early in the season.
